Farland Chang is an Emmy Award–winning journalist and international educator whose passion is to bridge east and west. He is now producing East Meets West - a documentary series about the legendary work of Nat Geo photographer Michael Yamashita, and his epic journeys along the Silk Road.

In a career spanning almost 30 years, Farland has covered  top stories across Asia and North America, including almost all 50 states. He served as business news anchor for CNN in Hong Kong and correspondent for NBC News in Los Angeles. He also reported for local television and radio stations in Seattle, Philadelphia, New York, Hawaii, Guam, and Washington, DC.

In 2001, Farland founded WorldBizWatch, a global media production company serving  Fortune 500 global leaders.


In 2014, Farland started teaching as a professor of journalism at Shantou University. And since 2019, he has been teaching international students at Nanjing and Zhejiang Universities.

Farland earned his bachelors from Cornell in Government, masters in Journalism from Columbia as well as masters in Radio, Film & TV from the University of Bristol.
